Stand Up for Rural America

Three national financial institutions that have invested more than $160 billion in rural communities will receive the first-ever Making Rural America Work awards as part of Stand Up for Rural America Day, June 6, in Washington, D.C.

Stand Up for Rural America Day, sponsored by a national coalition of rural community development supporters, will also feature addresses by U.S. Department of Agriculture Secretary Mike Johanns and Kansas Gov. Kathleen Sebelius. Panel presentations will cover rural hurricane recovery on the Gulf Coast, the impact of rural community developers and changing rural demography.
